Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...I hope

Our friend's daughter recently graduated high school and although we couldn't go to the party, we've been meaning to send her a card and gift.

Having just come back from vacation, I needed some serious help getting back into the crafting groove. So I headed over to Pinterest and started searching for graduation card ideas. Within seconds, I found this adorable card created by Mary Bellis that was originally shared over at the Stamping to Share blog. Mary's blog can be found here

I didn't have the Stampin' Up products that Mary used, but I knew I could pull it off. I started off by stamping the flourish background in Memento Tuxedo black with a cling mounted stamp (not sure of manufacturer, but feels like a Unity stamp). I stamped the sentiment from the Smarty Pants set by Paper Smooches. The butterflies were cut using a Martha Stewart punch from scraps of paper I've been saving. And finally, the graduation cap was cut from the Create a Critter 2 Cricut cartridge.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and special thanks to Mary Bellis for this great card design.

A Marriage of Designs

Hello all, I've been on vacation in New Hampshire for the last week...but on vacation from blogging for longer than that. Where has the time gone?

Just popping on today to share a quick card that I created for my sister-in-law's sister, who recently got married. I needed some help to get back into the crafting mood, so I logged on to Pinterest to search for some wedding card inspiration.

There were two designs that I kept seeing...the bride and groom hearts and the his and her towel sets. I simply couldn't decide which one I liked better, so I decided to "marry" the designs and came up with this:

Supplies: Neenah solar white cardstock base, other papers by SEI and Lily Bee designs. Heart punch from Creative Memories.
Dies used for the bride and groom hearts from Memory Box (tie) and Spellbinders (lace from part of  Splendid Circles).
Sentiment stamp by Paper Studio (Everyday Expressions).

I am pretty pleased with how this came out and love the red, white and black color scheme. Now if I can just get this in the mail before the celebrate their first anniversary!

Happy 4th of July

Just a quick post today! Feeling rather patriotic on this July 4th and figured this was the perfect day to finish up my card shipment to Operation Write Home. 75 cards and 15 Any Hero cards will get mailed out tomorrow! I had hoped to hit 100...but couldn't fit anymore in the box.

One of the Any Hero cards going into this shipment was created in the color scheme of red, white, blue and kraft for this week's OWH Midweek Throwdown color challenge. I used sketch #179 again to use up some patriotic scraps that I had in my stash.

Hope you have a terrific day!
